Readyboost - Safely Remove Hardware Icon

Its a niggle and not a big one, but is there no way for readyboost enabled USB sticks to not show as this system tray icon? or will Windows 7 always recognise them as just a USB, not a permanent fixture to my machine?

cheers

Ben

Hello Ben,

Since a readyboost USB flash drive must be ejected first so that it could be safely disconnected when wanted to, you will always have the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon when it's connected. However, you could set the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon to Hide icon and notifications using the tutorial below to no longer see it.

Notification Area Icons - Hide or Show System Icons and Notifications

Hope this helps,
Shawn

ai i figured that was the only way round it, pity really as i want the safely remove to work as normal, i just dont want the readyboost enabled drives to even register in the system as they will be there pretty much for the life of the pc and never be removed!lol!

thanks anyway

Assuming you are dealing with the system in your specs, you have 6 GB of memory. You're 5 GB of memory over needing to consider ReadyBoost anyway.
