Trying to increase my boot time

    Hi guys,

Lately I have realize that since I got my new laptop, I have all this default program/services that start up but I feel like I can do better.
I've disable two or three programs but I am not sure on the other ones, whether they need to runned or not.
I am trying to figure out what I need and what I don't need... I am not sure if you guys can help but it's worth a try :\

    Thanks

There is only one program that needs to be in the startups and that is your AV program. ALL the others can be disabled. - unless there are some that you want like the sidebar (gadgets )or a dock.

    Hi,

AV program = your anti-virus/anti-malware program.

    Hi,

Leave all the Micosoft Services as they are, and then your anti-virus program.

Yes. And may be a third party firewall if you have one.

But my advise would be to leave all that you have got well alone for two or three months. In the meantime please send a snapshot of your program files Folder to get an idea as to what all programs can run. And also a snapshot of the Startup programs in "msconfig".

As for your audio drivers and network adapter, you cannot normally stop them unless you take some out of the way steps. That is why they weren't mentioned in the responses that you got.

Incidentally how many seconds is your boot time at present?

Any service will be started when needed. E.g. your mouse pointer service will start as soon as you move the mouse. Same with the others. Things like the AV, the gadgets or a dock are different because nothing triggers them to get started. A service needs an 'external' interrupt to know that it is needed. So if e.g. you start a music file, the interrupt is there and the audio will get going.
