Yes, I was correct - it's hashed as part of index.dat.

Note for those developers out there, IE8 (and newer) actually has a notification interface to this data - IDeleteBrowsingHistory. Also note that there are usually 3 or 4 index.dat files - the one in the temporary internet files history (both content.IE5\index.dat and potentially \History.IE5\index.dat), \IECompatCache\index.dat, and \Cookies\index.dat. I believe you would need to remove all 3 to successfully remove all traces of user/password history from a user's profile, for what it's worth. I've only been repeatedly successful when doing so - just picking off one or two doesn't seem sufficient, although the IECompatCache one usually does the most "damage" in removing data from the cache .

Solved

Hi,

I had a look for those fiules and found them. Nothing written on them at all so I left them as is.

Instead I just used the Internet Options and deleted all entries, then put the save back on and they stay fine now.
