"Unidentified Network" Help?

My brand new Windows 7 Toshiba laptop was working great until yesterday. I was forced to restore my apple airport to factory defaults. after setting it up, it works fine on my Macbook, but whenever i attempt to connect to the router on my pc it says "Unidentified Network"

It detects the network(and names it), but it cant connect through the internet.

I have also noticed that when i use ipconfig /all, a gateway address is not shown, all my Media State's say "Media Disconnected"

DCHP is NOT enabled anywhere in ipconfig /all.

the pc uses something called "Atheros" if that helps

my "tunnel adapter 6t04 Adapter has a Disabled tcpip and a physical address of
00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0

So far I have tried:
- Reseting IPv4/IPv6 Protocol (however ipconfig/renew does NOT work due to "Media Disconnected"??)
- I have manually changed the network settings and reset the settings to automatically obtain IPv4/IPv6 address.
- I have disabled, stopped, and ultimately uninstalled bonjour (a progam linked with several instances of this problem i have read about)
- I have NO antivirus software (my service expired today) so Im fairly certain it has nothing to do with the firewall.
- I have also tried this: The iGeeks' Den How to: Fix Unidentified Network Windows 7 – SOLVED!
(Sorry i dont know how to simplify that)

Also I am NOT tech savy so please answer like i have no idea what im doing.

If you could help me with this I cant even express how grateful Ill be. (even telling me how to stop the "Media Disconnected" from ipconfig/renew would be awesome)

THANK YOU in advance for all your help!(Sorry if i posted in the wrong forum)

Thank you for the tip, but sadly it didnt work. I followed the instructions to the letter, and even went so far as to change the setting on IPv6 as well. to no avail

Do i have to install the changes or just click close? that was the only part that confused me.

You must save the changes. DHCP should be ON in your router.

I attempted to install the changes, and it still doesnt work.

DHCP is enabled in my router for IPv4.

I also just went into napclcfg.msc and Enabled "DHCP Quarantine Enforcement Client"<<not too sure if that was how I Enable DHCP so if i did that wrong please let me know

Ipv6 is Disabled, would that have anything to do with it? When i click "Configure" for IPv6 Automatically, nothing shows up. What would I enter to configure it manually? Or would that even help?

This is my ipconfig if its any help

Hi Christina,
Log into your ISP website and look in the help section on how your router should be set. I have a Netgear router so the exact wording may differ but its basically the same.
Access your router settings using a wired connection.
On the 'Router Status' page, DHCP should be ON.
-
Look at my text file, and compare it with yours, you don't have IPv4. Now look at my photos. Christina.zip

it should be enabled on your computer but its use is governed by your router. My Netgear is NOT IPV6 ready.

Ok i disabled DHCP Quarintine.

beyond that, The photos arent a real help, sorry to say, my router is a mac airport so it looks NOTHING like that

When you say "Access using a wired connection" what exactly do you mean? plug my ethernet cable into my laptop from the router?

If i enable IPv6 and set the configuration to automatic, should i worry if the settings remain blank, even though it is acknowledging that it IS on?

Thank you again for all the time and help. I'm sorry im not more learned when it comes to computers, but if this problem persists too much longer, ill know everything i have to to graduate with a masters in software. XD

Couple of questions:

The original post contained a link to a supposed fix, turning out to be unhelpful in regard to this post. In addition to the way they solved their own problem, the linked page also contained a link to an MS fixit that corrected an issue with connecting MS machines to certain routers that won't hand out an IP via DHCP due to the way the machine is requesting it. Did you try that fixit?

According to your ipconfig screenshot, your PC is already set to use DHCP.

I believe Roderunner is asking for you to ensure the DHCP server in your router is turned on (so that it can hand out an IP when your machine requests one). Oftentimes routers are set up such that you cannot make router config changes unless you are wired directly to it (via ethernet cable).

Okay, it was only one question.

YES

IPv6 s not yet used too often.

Their are 2 things you must find, 1 your correct router settings from your ISP. 2 How to access your router settings page.
