How do I stop password window from filling up with dots?
When the password window appears on startup, it immediately fills with dots. I can remove them by backspacing then deleting. How do I stop it from happening?

Feels like your keyboard is malfunctioning.
That its in somekind of loop during bootup. Try with another keyboard.
Or do the super-duper solution. Reset your CMOS
Its the big round battery on your mobo. Just jank that out, wait 5-10 sec, plug it back in.
That should erase any unwanted actions from the bootup.
If its a desktop, kinda hard to do that on a laptop. And if you havent done it before, use caution and google how to. Never start fiddeling in a open computercase if you havent done it before.

The dots indicate the password has been auto-entered.
Can you log-in without deleting them?

If it does start filling up with dots, take your head off the keyboard. That might help.
lol, just kidding. Try a different keyboard, if that doesn't work, reset the bios

It could be a stuck key, or debris under a key. Pick the keyboard up vertically and tap it on the desk, then slam it down on the back.

Welcome to SevenForums.
Most probably caused by a stuck key.
Since we do not know whether this is a tablet, a laptop, or a desktop, then advice must be general.
You could help us to help you by filling out your system specs.
Some suggestions:
until problem source located, then don't worry about using the delete to key, but rather simply hit the Enter key. That will give you a fresh password box.
Shake that keyboard as best you can.
Get a can of compressed air and blow on, around, and under all keys on the keyboard.

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec (left-hand column)
To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info
Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
“system manufacturer” block, for example,
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.
Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit
Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc
Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

similar prob only happened this morning though
i use windows 7 and i think i leant against my laptop as i slept last night and the screen was locked and i think it said logged on and the password bar was all black dots,which i deleted and entered my password and everything seemed fine and did a scan and my security software found no threats...is this ok?
i was trying to get my own query sorted but found out that i mus've leant againt computer to fill password bar and switch user....doooohhhh!!!! :)Last edited by kneedeep73; 06 May 2012 at 14:13. Reason: answer to my issue found
