    Hello naspa
I don't know why you want to update the bios if you have cleaned the fan.
Maybe accidentely you have loosen something in your motherboard, look for that and tighting it up.
On the other hand you say that you own two similar laptops, if the good one is working fine then see what the version of the bios is and act accordingly to the malfunctioning one.
    Good luck

Doesn't mean much of anything as every computer made says that or Award/AMI/etc. Just means that is who the chip/basic bios was made by. Any and all bios support comes from whoever made the computer/motherboard, the bios chip manufacturers provide ZERO consumer support.

As Hanna said a bios update won't help with the problem you're having. It could be any of the above mentioned, or depending on how far you took it apart you may have inadvertently shorted something (ESD also known as electro-static discharge) which can also cause it to not run properly.

The last thing you want to do is attempt to flash the BIOS on a PC that may shut down on you half way though. If it shuts down before the flash is completed you will have a much bigger problem. A totally useless laptop.
How exactly did you clean the fan?
Also, why did you clean the fan?
