Puran Free Defrag crashes at filling gaps

hi, i downloaded Puran Free Defrag to maintain my computer, the defrag process has no problems, the optimizing process also has no problems. but, when it goes to the filling gaps process, it crashes halfway... anyone has a similar problem and solution to it?

    Hi lala

Try the Puran Boot Time defrag which is the really valuable one since it gets System files.

If it continues include a full Disk Check to make sure it isn't the file system.

Next I would email them to see how responsive they are. Please let us know since their frequent recommendations here should take that into account.

If it persists you may need to change to another recommended defragger like Auslogics, Smart, Defraggler, or the WIn7 one which you can schedule to run.

Also, if the suggestions above do not work. Download and run the utilities from your HDD manufacturer (such as Seagate's Sea Tools). If you want a good fill defragmenter, try Power Defragmenter. It is a GUI for contig from Sysinternals.

    Download Power Defragmenter 3.0

Download and extract to a folder. Click on the Power Defragmeter exe. It will prompt you that contig was not found, and download it for you. Or you can download contig from the Sysinternals site 1st.

    Contig

Just make sure both files are in the same directory. It also has a triple pass mode which is what I used when my OS was on a HDD.

A vote for the advice from A Guy.

I'm a user and fan of Contig.

I've never used the GUI for contig, but I'm perfectly at home at the command line.
I've looked at the gui before and the gui is fine.

i used the Puran Free Defrag with the "fill gaps to prevent frequent defrag" option on both my desktop and my laptop, and the application crashes on both of them... i will try the boot time defrag and see what happens :)

Puran ver. 7.6 still hanging on filling gaps with boot scan

I just ran into this problem today with a boot-time defrag. It stuck at 38% while filling gaps. After a hard power reset, I turned that feature off. I still use Puran but will no longer use the filling gaps feature. As far as I know, this is the first time I have seen this in the last couple of years.
