USB 2.0 is extremely slow on Windows 7
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit installed on a Sony Vaio VGN-N21M laptop and a Kingston Datatraveler G3. Both the flash drive and the USB ports are USB 2.0 specification. I am able to get 20 MB/s from the flash drive formatted to FAT32 in Ubuntu.
However in Windows, the transfer rate peaks at 4.80 MB/s rather than anything closer to 60 MB/s.
Windows 7 was freshly installed on the laptop, complete with all the updates and the transfer rate was slow. Device Manager showed a warning symbol next to Mass Storage Controller. I installed the drivers from the Intel and Sony websites and new devices were added to the list. The transfer rate is still the same.
How can I solve this issue?
