Computer keeps configuring and setting up for first time use

I am trying to return my computer to its original out of box settings and I have run the four recovery discs that I originally made. Everything loaded fine but now it keeps recycling through saying that it is setting up the computer for first time use and then configuring the system, then it reboots and does the same thing all over again. I think I am close to getting this but need some help.

Do you still have the recovery partition on the hard drive? That's probably more reliable than burned discs.

Any particular reason you want "out of the box settings" rather than a clean install the way you want it?

I no longer have the partition. I'm not sure I know the difference between a clean install and out of box return. Should I try to run the system repair disc. I have 6 discs which I made when I originally got the computer plus the repair disc. When I ran the recovery it took the first four discs fine, but never asked for the last two "Windows Recovery Environment and Applications and Drivers?

I built my own PC, so I have little experience with those burned "recovery" disks such as you made. Someone else may be able to help you on that.

Here is the difference between out of the box and clean install:

Out of the box: you will end up with EXACTLY what you had on day 1. The same applications that Toshiba may have included. The same partition structure. The same doodads, whatever they may have been (I've never used a Toshiba).

Clean install: Just Windows, with a partition structure of your own choosing. No Toshiba crap.

I assume you did not get a regular Windows install disc with the Toshiba?

But you can still do a clean install if you have the 25 digit Product Key, probably on a sticker somewhere on the computer or maybe in a battery compartment.

The product key is in this format: xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

5 groups of 5 characters, separated by a hyphen.

If your recovery disks don't work, you probably have 2 choices:

1: order recovery disks from Toshiba for a price

2: forget about "out of the box" and do a clean install IF you have the Product Key.

    Your choice.
