Hello masoomsahib and welcome to Seven Forums.

If "some other program" deleted your prefetch folder, I'd be concerned about malware on your computer. Even deleting the contents of the prefetch folder can affect computer performance. The prefetch folder is a subfolder of the Windows system folder.

Does Deleting the contents of a "PREFETCH" folder affect the - Microsoft Answers

I'd start out by scanning your computer for malware with whatever antivirus and antispyware you have installed. Make sure it's updated and run a full scan, not a quick scan. Then I'd run some additional on-demand scanners to double check your system. (No antimalware program is 100% effective 100% of the time. If there was such a thing we'd all be using it.) These scanners are usually recommended and they all have free versions: Malwarebytes | Superantispyware | ESET | Hitman Pro. There are several others available but these should help. Again, make sure they're updated and run full scans.

If your machine comes back clean I'd next try running a System File Checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two, this tutorial.) The scan looks for and tries to fix damaged or corrupt system files. If problems are found run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

And one other thought. Windows 7 doesn't need tweaking by third party "tuneup" tools. Those tools can do more harm than good. If anyone insists on using them they need to know exactly what the tool is doing to the system so they can reverse any damage done. At a minimum I suggest making a restore point before running a tuneup tool. Better yet, a full system image.

Please post back with your results.

Has the Prefetch Folder itself is deleted or the Files inside the Folder have been deleted.

If the files are deleted then they get rebuilt in a short time and therefore not affect the computer's performance. The following may be of interest and may need checking.

Prefetch is one of the commonly overlooked components that can have a significant impact on system boot time. This tweak allows selection of which components will make use of the prefetch parameters. To see which files are gathered using each of the settings, clear the prefetch cache located at C:\Windows\Prefetch and then enable one of the settings. Clear the cache and repeat for each setting.

    [Start] [Run] [Regedit]
    Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters

Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.
Data Type: DWORD Value // Value Name: EnablePrefetcher
    Settings for Value Data: [0 = Disabled / 1 = Application Launch Prefetch / 2 = Boot Prefetch / 3 = Prefetch All]
    Exit Registry and Reboot

I usually work with the Value Data set to 2 (Boot Prefetch) without any noticable effects on the Computer speed.

I can't read the command prompt window, it's too small. But I'm guessing it said something like Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files that could not be repaired. Yes, the computer should be rebooted in between each scan. If the files still cannot be repaired by SFC it might be possible to manually replace the damaged or corrupt files. Option three (in the previously posted tutorial for SFC) shows how that's done. You will need a Windows 7 installation DVD (not a manufacturer's recovery disk.) If manually replacing the files isn't an option, you may want to consider a Repair Install.

    Repair Install

Or perhaps your computer was store bought and came with Windows 7 pre-installed. If so, the manufacturer probably included either recovery disks or a hidden partition to return your computer to factory specifications. You'd want to save all your important files, photos, etc because they'd get deleted. You'd also have to reinstall any programs, applications, etc that you installed.

Right click on the image and open it in a new window or tab to avoid the light box - then use Ctrl+ or Ctrl mouse wheel forward to make it big and blurry

    It says something like:
The max number of files has been repaired. To repair the remaining corrupted files, run sfc again.

    @OP,
Alt + Prnt Scrn only puts the window that is in front (in focus or on top) into the Windows clipboard for you to paste info Paint and save/upload for a post.
