Windows 7: Nothing will open if I have two or more tabs up

A few days ago I've been having a strange problem. I'm not sure if it is the task manager because I'm not really a great computer whiz but I do know the basics. Well basicly when ever I open something and it has two things open on it, it will not not let me open it. Take Internet explore for an example. It won't let me go back to it if have two tabs open. I'm baffled on what the problem may be. I thought it may be my mouse but I have a touch screen and tried to open things that way. It didn't work. I would greatly appreciate you're ideas of what the problem may be. Aslo if I was too confusing the way I asked about my problem I could try and ask it in a different way for it to make more sense.
