How do i rectify the problem of 100% CPU Usage?

I have been facing this problem for the last 2 days.

As soon as I close warcraft after playing dota, the CPU Usage shoots upto a stagnant 100%. I checked percentage wise and rundll32 is using up over 60%. Whereas when the game is running, rundll32 and svchost (combind) contribute to around 80% of the total CPU Usage and the Total usage still being a stable 100%.

I havent been able to figure out a solution for this, so i have to reboot everytime after playing dota. A solution to my problem would really be appreciated.

I have the same issue with windows 7, I have a very expensive computer and it runs at 100-105% CPU non stop.. I have no idea why but If I cant fix this I am going to just uninstall it, the amount of people having the same issue is uncanny. I cant believe this issue has not been fixed

Welcome to the forum! :)

Maybe you can check out what Resource Monitor can reveal, or download Process Explorer from Process Explorer.

This is the screenshot that i took when Dota was running, now kindly tell me what i need to do in order to get rid of my 100% CPU Usage problem.

Highlight the run.dll and host.svc listings which are showing high usage to see exactly which programs are using them.

From the Troubleshooting steps I linked you, establish a Clean Boot with only your AV starting with Windows.

If you have a bloated AV, replace it first with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Does that help?

Have you posted or checked for info on your issue with the dota game on the various game related forums out there? I see quite a few posts related to excess CPU usage while playing as well as after closing. Some users report possible conflicts with other software.

I tried on a few Gaming forums but none of the answers are worth mentioning here. Kindly tell me how to get rid of this stupid rundll32 TREE which uses like 50% of the CPU :|

You would have to use something like Resource Monitor (access by typing it in the Windows Start menu search field) or Process Explorer to see what's running under rundll32.

Never mind the above, I see that you have. I didn't realize the age of this thread before this post.

Anyway you've got to right click on the rundll entry that's consuming the most CPU to see all that it's running. Something else that would help is to show the bottom half of the screen (under the View dropdown menu).

Why was there no response to these steps I gave you, even to ask how to do them correctly? Did you come here to seek help or to ignore it?
