You could try disabling hibernate from an elevated CMD prompt.

    See Option 1 / #2 Disabling hibernate:

    I don't have a laptop, so i can't test your scenario.
Please clarify your last reply, is there a C:\hiberfil.sys file or not ?

if hibernate is turned off, hiberfil.sys should not be there.

did you try all the suggestions in post #3?

You're not confusing hibernate and sleep are you?

I have turned off hibernate on my laptop but it will still sleep.

    ok thanks
hiberfil.sys is not there and yes I did suggestions in post #3.
Not sure if its hibernating or sleeping but sleep "... immediately stops what it’s doing ..."
I just want to do a full scan without constantly switching it back on.
still don't understand why I can't access hibernate or sleep option?
