Does disabling your sound card save resources?

I'm using a television as a monitor connected to the computer through a HDMI cable.
Is there any benefit to disabling my sound card, since I get sound and video through the HDMI setup?

If so, does it save on cpu, ram resources? And should I disable it in the BIOS as well?

Any savings would be negligible, and the possible bad side effects would likely outweigh any advantages. Translation, "I'd leave it alone"
