I can make a bootable thumb drive as descibed on this site but it does not include a chkdsk utility. All the versions I have found on the Web do not support NTFS.
Can you show me where to find the version of chkdsk that is built into Win7 that will run with NTFS?

C:\Windows\system32\chkdsk.exe
But it has lots of dependencies so I don't know if it runs from a bootable flash drive. You could create a Windows 7 install flash drive then boot it to the Recovery Console, Command Prompt and run chkdsk from there.

Thanks for your ideas, however, C:\Windows\system32\chkdsk.exe does not run under DOS.
Looking at 'Easy as 1 2 3' I can find only Linux stuff, not Win7.
I tried the Freeware 'checkdsik', it will run under Win 7 but not under DOS.

You click the drop down and scroll all the way to the bottom, Windows 7 is there, I've used it.
Sorry, maybe I am thick, but can't I find any drop-down box that leads to Win 7, or are you referring to the app. 'Windows 7 in a box'?
