    Not responding...

Every time I use my computer, whether I open Firefox or Notepad, it freezes with "not responding." After a minute or so it releases. Then it happens periodically. What do I do to make this stop?

Could be a memory issue. How much memory have you got in your computer? As it is 32-bit, there is no point in installing any more than 4GB.

    Pinkipad,

Help us to help you by filling out your system specs. Here is how:

    Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
    (left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

ADD the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
    “system manufacturer” block, for example,
    Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

Good. Now put the info that is in System Manufacturer/Model Number in the OS block

Put the info from Other Info into System Manufacturer/Model Number

Add to System Manufacturer/Model Number the model number info. There is more than one Dell Inspiron Mini Netbook!

SIW is the better product, but the free version doesn't permit copy and paste operations like Speccy does. You do know that you can highlight the desired info such as opposite Version and use Ctrl+C to copy and then use Ctrl+V to paste into the SevenForums form for your system specs.

You might find that Speccy, under Motherboard, has put the number you need as "Version".
In this area, SIW is far superior.

Now since you are working with a netbook:
My experience with my netbook is:
    1. 4 GB is better than 2 GB
    2. a SSD is better than a HDD.

Let's hope that we can solve your problem without having to take those steps.

I don't really think that you have 2.44 gb hard disk drive.

Would you please update the size of the hdd? Since a cramped drive can cause problems, that info is rather vital.

    Please carry out following:
    Install CCleaner:
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

    list of STARTUP PROGRAMS

    CCleaner | Tools
icon | Startup button | Windows tab |
click on Save to text file button (bottom right side) |
accept Startup.txt as file name | SAVE button

    list of SCHEDULED TASKS

    CCleaner | Tools
icon | Startup button | Scheduled Tasks tab |
click on Save to text file button (bottom right side) |
enter Scheduled Tasks as File name | Save button

    List of INSTALLED PROGRAMS

    CCleaner | Tools
    icon | Uninstall button |
click on Save to text file button (bottom right side) |
accept install.txt as File name | Save button

UPLOAD, as an attachment, the startup.txt file
UPLOAD, as an attachment, the Scheduled Tasks.txt file
UPLOAD, as an attachment, the install.txt file.

    HOW TO UPLOAD
Post a File or Screenshot in Seven Forums

Thanks. Give me a couple of days to do all you ask. Your first post (where you mention SIW) confused me, the second overwhelmed me. I'm only online for as hour or so per day, and after I check emails, do stuff from them, little is left. I'm going to have to list, list, list after installing, so need to coordinate. HDD was 244, maybe the comma was a mistake. I tried to copy from Speccy but could not. Will try again.

you highlight the desired line(s) in Speccy using your mouse. You then use Ctrl+C to copy the selected info to the "clipboard". This is followed by using Ctrl+V to paste from the clipboard.

I know how to copy and paste! I have no mouse, but when I tried to copy, it would not do it. Will try again though the format has changed from the initial scan. I tried to peruse it to check the ram earlier but it went to NOT RESPONDING when it began to scan.
