If you don't want the bloatware, choose the Minimized Image Recovery option:

I doubt whether a Compaq has minimized Recovery. Running Recovery willl indeed reinstall all of the factory crapware and useless OEM utlities which have much better versions built into Win7.

You must be thinking about XP when you refer to having to reinstall all of your drivers.

Win7 is driver-complete in the installer and via optional Windows Updates. This and the other Best Practices are here to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Changing laptop fan speed
Hi: Curious as to how I may change my fan speed or the temperature at which it kicks on? I looked for a setting in the BIOS but didn't see one. I am running Acer 1.20 on an Acer 7750G. Perhaps I missed the setting or there is a program that lets you alter this from Windows?
