Just curious so i can plan my time
Hiyya and welcome GTraymond - depends on the size of the drive mate but mie usually take about an hour but I also think it depends and don't quote me on this but the nature of the drive HDD or SSD.
Not trying to be being funny but have you done it before? if not take a peek at this
Disk Check
Thx for the reply since I have a healthy 1.3TB what would be a approximate time?
Hum GT that I couldn't comment on mate cos I don't see what processor, board, etc you have only that you have that size drive. But assuming it were a reasonably fast processor dual quad etc and I would only be hazarding a guess really about 1-2 hours?
My own 1TB used to take about an hour running an i5 2500 on a Giga H67A-UD3H-B3. In my experience and I must add that I am no expert that the first time always seems to take the longest. It's a bit like running a disk clean the more frequent you do it the shorter time it takes because there isn't so much to clean - if that makes sense.
Personally I used to set it to run when I was due to have a meal, take a TV break, or go to bed and just let it go.
Really 1-2 hours the last time I ran it took some where around 6 hours. My PC is a HP P6715f
Yes GT thats what I meant by how fast a processor is and how long since you last did one. I might have it completely wrong but if the chkdsk finds stuff out of whack then it corrects it therefore only has to correct fresh anomalies. I know from experience too that HP carries a heck of a lot of bloat too which doesn't help things.
Just out of curiosity is the defrag on? it might even be worth a try at doing a manual one before you start too. Plus I always run CCleaner through before I do that sort of thing just to get rid of the junk.
The processor certainly looks the goods and there are two ways to go about it too you might want to try both separtely -
Disk Check
Thank you :)
It depends also what flags you set and how much data is on the disk. If you use the default in the tutorial 100GB of data will take 30 to 60 mins. If you also check the bad sectors box it will take several hours as it scans the entire disk.
