Windows 7: windows doesnt go into sleep / hibernation mode when battery low

Hi,

I am having a problem where my laptop doesn't got into sleep / hibernation mode when the battery is running low. It just shuts down suddenly causing the machine to give me an error about not been shut down property upon reboot.

hopefully this is something pretty simple and I am missing something but can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Go to your power options, advanced settings, and look at the battery section. That's where the shutdown/hibernate/sleep is controlled when a low battery is detected.

And the state of the battery is?

If you would like more detailed info about your battery, then let me recommend SIW.

Go to the Hardware section then battery. Let us know what it says.

Control Panel | Power Options | Change plan settings (for the plan you are using) | Change advanced power settings (in small print after the plan brightness sliders) | expand Battery | now you are on your own to investigate the various settings and options, the default settings are normally quite adequate unless you've used one of those superduper speedup,etc your computer programs.

The battery may be so bad it can't keep powered up long enough for sleep/hibernation as well.
