    Screensaver help

Our screensaver is supposed to use images from the My Pictures folder, but it also displays symbols from some deep system root directory. These symbols are annoying. How do I stop them?

Open Control Panel, click on the View tab.
Check Show hidden files, folders and drives.
Uncheck Hide empty drives in the Computer folder.
Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).

    Open a Command Prompt.
Type dir pictures and press Enter.

See if any picture files (jpg/gif/png/bmp) are in there that are not pictures you expect to be there.

When you're done, go back and check Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). You can also check any of the others you want.

    Hi Ztruker,
    Thanks for all that information.
I will do as you say to see if I can find the pictures. But then what?
I am still a bit unsure of how to keep screensaver from choosing those pictures. They are probably used in other applications, so I don't necessarily want to eliminate them completely, I only want to remove them from the screensavers repertoire!
    Thanks again!

The easiest way is to create a new folder then move into it only the pictures you want to use. I did this, and call it ScreenSaverPics. I move different sets of pictures in there as I feel moved to do so. Never change the actual Screensaver setup.
