CPU usage very high while browsing

I would like to first clear that I have run 2 antivirus softwares which found NO virus at all malwarebytes & norton 360. I even disabled these but no luck ok know to the problem.
While having a single browser open "Google Chrome" with only 1 tab open and browsing my cpu is hitting between 80% to 95% I thought it was only happening while downloading files but it's happening while browsing to. See picture below also note I have 1 Google Chrome browser open below it's showing 7 ??? even though some are not using the cpu at all. This is also happening with Firefox & Internet Explorer. My specs are below aswell.

HP Laptop specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 CPU
4GB Memory Ram

Post a screenshot of that utility, so we can see whsts going on?

Establish a Clean Boot as shown in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

If this fails to help besides posting back the screenshot for Process Explorer showing all processes expanded, work through the rest of the steps in the tutorial above.

Use Snipping Tool in Start menu to make the screenshot to attach in reply.

Shadowman,
Carrying out the following will answer a couple of my questions:
Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec (left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Manufacturer and Model and
ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

You will find that in Speccy, you can select info from the display
using your mouse/touchpad and then paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

browsers are actually quite cpu heavy, but they are not multithreaded.

On my core i5 750 my guess is about 30% of websites use 50% of available cpu power to process a page, about another 30% saturate the cpu and only the other 40% or so are low cpu demand. On a 4 core cpu if cpu usage shows 25% browsing then thats saturated cpu. On my laptop which is just a single core celeron, about 70% of the mainstream sites on the internet are bottlenecked by the cpu when loading, with all the flash content etc. Browsing websites is more hardware demanding then many people think. If you using all that cpu with the browser idle tho is a problem for sure.
