    CPU 100% and it sucks

Heyo, Im SK. This is my first week running windows 7 and i need a bit of help with a problem I had and eventually solved as an XP user. I have the all too common issue of the cpu running at 100% which slows everything to a menacing halt.

Specs : Aspire one, N450 processor, 1gb mem, and 6 cell ion battery.

    WOW 105 Processes!!

Go to start orb type in msconfig in the search press enter, go to the start up tab and un-check what you don't need, you only really need your Anti Virus rubbing at start up.

    1. centaur78 is right. You are starving from lack of RAM - just get more RAM, as much as your mobo can stand. Check with the system scanner in this link what is possible and how much it costs: RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, SSD at Crucial.com

    2. Your task manager snip is pretty useless because a) you did not 'Show processes from all users' and b) you did not prioritize the picture by CPU time so that the high usage processes show on top.

    3. And yes - you have too many processes. Disable all startup programs - except the McAfee protection modules

    4. Mid term you may want to get rid of McAfee and use MSE instead. But make sure you uninstall McAfee with the MPCR.exe - else you'll get a problem.

    5. At this moment I think you are dying from page thrashing (because of the lack of RAM). Check that in Resource Monitor > Memory tab > the graph on the bottom right.

    1. you have to press the button 'Show processes from other users' - the 'other users' are system functions.

    2. only when the high CPU usage processes are listed on the top, we can see anything.

    3. If you have more than 1 AV program installed and active, you are in deep trouble

    4. 1GB of RAM is just not going to hack it. If you don't want to upgrade the hardware, run Linux. That runs well in 1GB.

Nope...i dont think i can take anymore photo...

My dear friend sevil... i cant bear to see the poor netbook die of stroke

    So you have two options.....

    1. upgrade to 2 GB and downgrade to Win XP and use it for light workload

    2. or stick to what you have and use Linux .
