I just re-ran the thing on the disk lol, and now it says SeaTools for DOS has determined that an important firmware update may be available for your disk drive. Please log onto Support | Seagate and follow the link to Firmware Update. You will need to enter the serial number for your disk drive, I shall do this and get back to you

500GBPSU:450W I don't think that PSU is powerful enough. If that's the case I would stop the hard disk scan or it will damage it, if it hasn't already.

Welcome aaronadek.
Since the last part of the WEI assessment is the primary drive that seems to point to a HDD issue, new or not. A HDD should only make a low barely discernible hum. The Seatools Karl linked you to has the option in the Test Menu to spin down and spin up the drive, see if that has an affect on the noise.

Two other items may make noise if failing too, fans or the PSU maybe frying a capacitor.

EDIT: Sorry I had not noticed this was a multi-page thread till I had poasted.

I have run the extended test on some drives and 500GB took around 5 hours. If S.M.A.R.T. has been tripped, that is not a good sign.

You can use IDE or AHCI, both will work.
