    speed of windows 7


    Does it matter witch windows 7 you go for do they all run at the same speed say would home basic be as fast or slow as Ultimate??

    Hope that makes sence :) and im not meaning 32bit or 64bit im meaning just 32bit to 32bit

    hi gary123, and welcome to sevenforums - the place to be!

    i don't think there are any speed differences between the versions - the main difference is the extra applications and features contained in the ultimate. if you don't need the extras (listed here), save yourself some money by buying home premium!

    Thanks for the reply, that was the 1st thread i read but to be honsted i dont get what half the stuff is or means haha. i use my laptop for mainley internet , and to controll my other pcs/servers so not sure witch one to go for as im not sure if i need some parts

    is windows 7 out to buy now already? i tryed the microsoft 7100 trial and seems nice and fast but what rev would this be in the list?

    windows 7 will be out on general release on october 22nd.

    i don't know where you live, but some online retailers have windows 7 available on pre-order for a nicely reduced price, so you can buy it now for a good price, but it won't be delivered until october 22nd.

    Each version installs pretty much the same thing, the only difference is what is activated. Everything is contained in that WinSxS folder From Ultimate to Starter.
