Windows 7: HP Envy 17 1050ea - Recommendations for lowering temp/cooling pad

What I've done in cases like that is watch the temps closely, study up on cleaning out the dust, even possibly repasting the processor or replacing the reported-problematic cooling pads. There may come a time where you decide to try this yourself, or if you take it in to a shop you'll be fully prepared for what is involved - if not the prohibitive cost.

I recently repasted processor and cleaned out the heat sink on a Compaq which was going to be junked otherwise. It was quite a project but I learned enough it was worth it even if it had failed. Instead I have a fast-running Win7 PC running at normal temps now. This was also a problem model with overheating so there was also a lot to read on how others have resolved it.
