What makes you think TreeSize is NOT showing you what is taking up space?
What makes you think those tens of thousands do NOT add up to over 4 GB?
I have no idea. Just asking. Maybe it is a completely bogus and inaccurate application.
You might want to play around with the DIR sortorder switch at a command prompt.
For instance, this command:
dir /s /o:s
when run from this directory:
c:\windows\winsxs
will sort all files in size order, from smallest to largest, including subdirectories.
I just ran it on my PC. Took about 30 seconds to complete.

There are 16,203 subfolders in winxs. My math was wrong. Apparently they add up to 11.6GB.
I'm simple so I will keep it simple. Winsxs has a very good purpose. I don't care the room it takes. I just leave it alone. Reading the post #10 to me makes it easy to understand the why and what for. I also let Windows 7 take what ever space it need to do the job. So far that works out well for me and my computers.
I understand you completely bru I also wonder. That is why post #10 and the site given is so good. My post wasn't directed to you personally or any single person. Many people read these post. I kind of wanted to tell all those that read these post that fooling with such things in my opinion would not be wise. Wondering is a good thing. It's the beginning of the learning process.
