Well, I'm back. I tried to perform a clean install again, but this time it is giving me another error.

"Could not format a partition on Disk 0. Error code: 0x80070057"

Me and my father are thinking it has to do with a hard disk issue, perhaps its been the main problem all along. All these problems are really stacking on eachother now. Arrgggh!

    Any ideas?

Yes, the problem is related to the hard-drive, I may have found a solution on the Microsoft support website (Error 0x80070057 when you format a hard disk drive to install Windows 7), the error is related to corruption within the system reserved partition.

Follow the instructions within the link, and hopefully will resolve your problem.

Note: The data within the hard-drive will be lost.

    Hope this helps,

I followed the instructions, got the partitions deleted and created a new one, but now I cannot format the main hard drive and when I try to install windows it gives me the 0x83020000000 error again.

You could have a hard-drive failure, it is probably easier to purchase a new hard-drive (relatively cheap now), and do a clean install of Windows 7 on the new hard-drive. I've found no forums or suggestions matching the 0x83020000000 error, so buying a new hard-drive is probably the easiest option.

Sorry couldn't completely resolve the problem,

Instead of wiping with the windows disc try a problem i solved for someone else. Using this method on the HDD you want below make sure you always back up your stuff before doing anything.

    Download the ultimate boot cd.

    Ultimate Boot CD - Overview
    http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

Download the .iso file, burn to disc, boot from that disc, look under hard disk tools and do a drive wipe, make sure it's one that does a 0 erase wipe that will erradicate any data on the drive, then attempt to reinstall. Worth a shot.

Harry, I appreciate the help. It may be a shame if I have to replace the hard disk because, like I said, everything was working fine until that fateful day two weeks ago... I love that computer, so hopefully dex's suggestion will work. In regards, Dex, I have the .iso downloading, (slowly), so how do I burn the disc. What program would you reccomend and do you have a list of steps? Also, are there any possible side affects of using the boot disc?

    Thanks!

Download CDBurnerXP 4.4.1.3099 - FileHippo.com (cd burner xp) is a nice free and fairly simple to use it's also a small download which will help in your current situation.

but if your hdd is gone it's gone, find out for sure but don't waste time with it if you get bad results.

the ubcd disk has multiple tools either use your drive manufacturers tool or use vivard for a low level scan for most drive types.

    best of luck.

When messing around repairing pc's there is always chance of problems. Sometimes medicine has side effects does it not? So backup whats important and what you want always before you get to step 1

Secondly to burn the disc image download this for free :

    The Official ImgBurn Website

And follow this guide to burn UBCD that you downloaded with it

    How to Burn with ImgBurn

So here are some simple instructions:

    1. Choose burn ISO TO DISC click the "browse for file" icon (little folder icon next to please select a file) and navigate to your "UBCD4Win.ISO" file and click ok.

    2. Click the "write" icon. (The button above with the disc.)
    3. Once completed it will say and restart pc.
    4. Boot cd how you would boot into windows disc.

Lastly and most importantly follow this it should be straight forward let me know if you get stuck

    > Download the .iso file,
    > Burn to disc,
    > Boot from that disc,
    > look for hard disk tools
    > Select drive wipe on your drive
    > Make sure it's says that it does a 0 erase wipe (FULL WIPE)
that will erradicate any data on the drive, then attempt to reinstall with windows disc.

Let me know how you get on and most importantly take your time but backup first.
Oh and also with UBCD read everything and follow and you will find it easy :) good luck

With the Ultimate boot CD I chose the HDD ---- Boot and Nuke option. I ran it last night and it appeared to have worked with no errors. So then I ran my computer like normal without the Windows CD and without any OS. It showed the Intel Boot, which I assume is my motherboards natural boot system. On the bottom it said, Insert bootable CD and press any key. On the top it was info about Intel and a little about the computer and boot. In the middle it said,
PXE -E61 Media test failure, Check cable.

So, I tried the install for windows 7 and clicked on next for the partition, just stayed on the blue waiting circle for an hour and didn't do anything....

I'm trying to create a new partition in hopes that it will install to that or something.

Try with another windows installation if you can. It may be that the reason was always a bad hard drive in the first place let me know thanks.
