For sure since the two faster sticks will have to downclock to match the slower stick. Better yet, buy another 2 GB of the faster stick for optimum performance.

Best thing for memory, in a dual channel configuration, is Symmetry. 2 sticks of the same capacity, speed, timing....each in its own channel. For example, in my old system, I had 3GB of RAM. 2-1GB sticks, and 2-512MB sticks(factory configuration). My WEI score for RAM was a 5.9. I swapped the 2-512MB sticks out for 2-1gb sticks(same frequency) and my WEI score was a 7.1! Me and my buddy were in disbelief at the jump in score. It was only a 1gb increase in capacity, 3GB-4GB, so we figured that must be wrong. Re-ran the assessment several times and it remained a 7.1. We concluded that symmetry is more important than capacity when it comes to RAM.

Glad you got your stuff working good and got a good boost in performance!

Probably I am in the right section for this issue. If not, please move it. A couple of days ago I changed the motherboard and processor, but not the RAM as the RAM is apparently compatible with that board as stated in GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-B85M-D3H (rev. 1.0/1.1) ... Now, I...

How to set memory speed and timings
I installed DDR3 1866 but the memory is running at 1600. My question is how to change the speed to 1866. I changed the multiplier from 8 to 9.33 leaving "Auto" for the timings but that resulted in no boot. The memory is Patriot PV38G186C9KRD. The spec is DDR3 1866 with 9-10-9-27. FX-6300 is running...

Memory speed
I have 4 Gb of corsair 1600MHz C9 DDR3 memory installed on an Asus Crosshair III Formula 790FX motherboard. The motherboard specs said that it supported 1600 MHz memory, yet the memory is only running at 1333 MHz. Do I need to OC the M/board in someway to get the full speed out of the memory...

RAM Question - Data Bus Speeds/Memory Speed
was looking for some new RAM, as my computer's pretty slow. I found some for a good price, but had a question. According to my specifications, by Data Bus Speed is 533 MHz, however my Memory Speed is 333 MHz. The RAM I'm looking at has a "speed" of 400 MHz. First of all, what "speed" does...
