    Error 1068, anyone know how to fix it?

    I open disk cleanup to cleanup the waste files in the disk, then I tried to start the Disk Defragmenter, but a window opened and told me that an error called Error 1068 occurred and I must start the Task Scheduler Service, I have done that, its on automatic but still when i Run Disk Defragmenter I still get this error, anyone have a solution?

    Error 1068 seems to be a generic error code that can apply to several different Windows 7 problems such as firewall, print spooler, remote access, audio, etc. as well as the task scheduler.

    I'd try running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two) and see if there are any damaged or corrupt system files. If problems are noted run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

    SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Please post back if this helps or not.

    I found this on a search. This reply is from MS Social Network;

    "After spending half the afternoon looking for help, I believe I've found something that may be of assistance. If you right click>properties (or double click) on task scheduler in the services list, you will see a window with several tabs, one of them being "Dependencies". Click on that and check out the programs that have to be running to make the scheduler work. One by one, go to each on the services list, and see if they are enabled and started. Once I had started one and enable another, scheduler (and everything associated with it) worked. I hope this helps".

    As marsmimar pointed out, the error can complain about many services. The general prescription is to not only check that specific service, but also dig deeper into the dependencies for that service and enable them.

    Well done, bej
