Windows 7 and processor Cores

QUESTION:
I have quad core processor. How to shut down cores for slower speed? Certain games need slower speed.

INFO:
System Shock game has been optimized for Windows 7. Yeeahw! It is called System Shock Portable and it is FREE to use. Try that game. Awesome music and graphics. Also that game is really scary.
