It's a mystery Ryan. I suspect a higher score has more to do with the RAM timings and frequency that the amount of it. The efficiency of a given CPU's memory controller comes into play too. ex: some i5s can run RAM at 2400 easily, mine however can't, 2133 is the max I have been able to get.

This is pretty much the best I can get from 8GB of Dual channel.

This is with changing the BCLK to 103 which gives a ram speed of 2472Mhz. Strangely though I can get the ram to run at 2600Mhz just by changing the frequency but that speed has an adverse effect on the performance and it will only hit 29000.

Great score there Paul! Are the 2011 boards more tolerant to raising the FSB then 1155?

Thanks Gary,

I have no idea about 2011 boards though. I didn't change to 2011 in the end, I just got a new 1155 and stuck with my i7 3770K.

And thanks Ryan and Doug,

I got my RMA number back from G.Skill so I will be sending the faulty 8GB back to them soon, I think it's gonna take a while as I have to send them to the Netherlands!

At least you have 8GB still, and you probably use about half of that for normal-heavy usage........still in good shape.

Probably I am in the right section for this issue. If not, please move it. A couple of days ago I changed the motherboard and processor, but not the RAM as the RAM is apparently compatible with that board as stated in GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-B85M-D3H (rev. 1.0/1.1) ... Now, I...

What's your hard drive assessment speed?
I'm curious to see what other people are getting for their WEI disk scores. I would like to see all types and combinations of drives to see how they differ in performance. If possible try to keep HDTach/HDTune/etc. scores to a minimum as there is another thread for that. Some general questions...

Memory Assessment Speed
Just a curious question; I ran winsat mem a couple of weeks ago and got a 13600+ read. Ran it today and got 15985 read. Only system change was adding a Radeon 6670 Video card. Does memory speed change this much ? What might cause the disparity ?

Memory speed
I have 4 Gb of corsair 1600MHz C9 DDR3 memory installed on an Asus Crosshair III Formula 790FX motherboard. The motherboard specs said that it supported 1600 MHz memory, yet the memory is only running at 1333 MHz. Do I need to OC the M/board in someway to get the full speed out of the memory...
