Slow server on Win 7

However just for testing I installed a virtualbox image of Windows 7, the same exact copy of the main one I have installed. Within the image the import runs very fast, although it should technically run slower due to having less computing power in an image.

I've also tried the same WordPress + server setup on other laptops which are very slow compared to my main machine, and they still run the import very quickly compared to my main pc.

Any ideas on how to fix this? The hard drive on my main pc is a 1TB 7200rpm disk, with 120GB allocated to windows and software, and the rest for data. On the windows partition I have 64gb free while on the data partition I have 65GB free (out of 814GB).

I've also tried using WAMP instead of XAMPP with identical results.

At startup and opening of Chrome windows is running around 85 processes, 20 of which are Chrome, with just 3 tabs open. CPU usage near from 1 - 20 % and Physical memory around 40%
