Boot time 5-6 minutes & after booting applications freezes for 1 min

    Hi Everyone,

Please give me solution for my problem as my laptop take 5-6 minutes for booting & later application freezes for 1 minute.

Windows 7 Home Premium - service pack 1 (7 month old laptop)
    Samsung NP300E5A-S01UK Core i-5 Processor, 2.5GHz, 6 GB RAM, 64 bit OS
    C Drive - 122 GB free of 176 GB D Drive - 198 free of 265 GB
Had samsung recovery solution & samsung software update programs which used to come up after startup. surprisingly there was no option for this 2 programs in msconfig, startup section and used to come up after every startup. So I uninstalled it later.
No option is selected in msconfig, startup section.
all junk files & temp file cleared using Ccleaner & Glary utilities, also disk is fragmented using Diskeeper 2011
NO virus, malware, spyware present as I have checked my PC with Norton 360, webroot secure anywhere & SpyBot search & destroy
After checking for virus I have un-installed all antivirus, right now I don't have any anti-virus so there is no point that antivirus is increasing boot time.

So please let me know is there anything other I can do so I can improve the boot time as earlier my boot time was less than 1 minute.

If this problems is fairly recent, you may be able to roll back your computer to a date/time prior to the first startup issue by using a system restore point.

    System Restore

See if there are any damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Another possibility is application conflicts at startup. Perform a clean boot (aka clean startup.)

Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

If none of the above helps you may want to go through these troubleshooting guides for startup issues and general troubleshooting issues. They are time consuming but have helped isolate problems for many people.

    Thanks for your reply..
In performance Information & tools section..there is warning that my Nvidia driver & intel graphics driver are causing Windows to resume slowly.
Right now I am updating all my drivers. Hope this might work.
If it won't I will try above solutions

Not a problem. Take as much time as you need.

I would immediately test your RAM and HD, establish a Clean Boot, scan the logs for repeat errors, and utilize System Resources to find problems in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

The steps lead up to possible Repair Install, running Factory Recovery or getting the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which is a specialty of these forums.

I am getting warning in Performance Information & tools section that Drivers are interfering with Windows resuming from sleep mode.

These drivers are causing Windows to resume slowly

    1. Intel Graphics Kernel Mode Driver
    igdkmd64.sys Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
    time taken - 99.6 seconds

    2. NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 268.83
    nvlddmkm.sys NVIDIA GeForce GT520MX
    time taken - 39.1 seconds

If you no longer use the device, consider uninstalling it

I have updated above both drivers but still same warning comes up.

Please let me know is it OK to uninstall both display drivers. Whether it will affect my laptop performance or some features may not work ?

Or let me know other solution for this driver interference.

    Thanks

Do you have Intel or Nvidia Display adapter? It's unusual to have both.

Uninstalling each on Driver tab in Device Manager would only cause them to reinstall at reboot which might help. I would do one at a time.

Even if you check the box to uninstall the driver itself it will just reboot to Standard VGA Driver so you could then see what driver optional Windows Updates delivers after enabling Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware. This is the preferred way to get drivers in Win7 which is driver-complete.

Look over these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to consider getting the freshest start shedding all of the corruption caused by factory bloatware even after it's removal. You'll then at least be aware of the tools and methods which work the best based on thousands we've helped here.

Dedicated GT 520MX 1GB Graphics is what he has, what it is, is that the laptop is shipped with both drivers installed, the United Kingdom version got the Nvidia GPU, the USA version got the Intel GPU.

uninstall the intel drivers, and see if that helps. You should clean the drivers folder too, I can't remember exactly how to do that but I am sure someone will post the instructions for that.

I don't have any idea of adapter. Let me know how can I check that.
Right now I don't want to do a clean Reinstall.

I will try uninstalling & re-installing both drivers one by one and will check the problem.

Do not reinstall both only reinstall the one you have, hold the windows key and press "pause/break", click on device manager, and see what is listed under display adapter, that is the one you want to reinstall only.

If you have the UK variant it should be an Nvidia display.
