Search Indexing
I take it Windows 7 doesn't have this feature and if it does can it be turned off?
Just that when I turned it off in Vista I noticed a performace boost when booting up and loading up programs.

Search is located in cpanel indexing. You can turn it off or modify its searches there. Its a valuable tool and if you turn it off the gain will not be that large. Try limiting the folders searched and what to search (just have it search titles not contents)
good luck and let us know if you need help

It does have it, and I believe in Win7 it is tied into the Libraries, to what negative effect if you turn it off I'm not sure.
Hello QuackPot,
Yes, you can disable the index or remove locations from the index. However, disabling the index will also disable the ability to search in Libraries.
Hope this helps,
Shawn
