You have to look for this window. Don't remember the details how to get there since I have not used it for a while.

The Vista start animation means there are problems also at the boot level. Run Startup Repair - Run up to 3 Separate Times to check all boot parameters.

Make sure you have the latest Display driver.

You should have all Important and Optional Updates installed after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3).

All important and optional updates, check.

Will try the two other options you listed as soon as possible, thank you.

If those fail, I have looked up a fix which has also worked for this in the past:

Type CMD into Start Search box, right click result to Run as Administrator.

If you are using English Windows 7 type: bcdedit /set {current} locale en-US

If you're using another language replace en-US with it.

Exit CMD screen and restart PC. It should have Windows 7 animation.

If not try: bcdboot %WinDir% /l en-US

Have tried the start up repair as Greg suggested? Have you tried a sfc /scannow?

If those don't work then it may require Repair Install or Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 (same steps for retail). I have had to reinstall for this problem most times in past when other fixes didn't work.

Remember that getting a perfect reinstall following the steps in the tutorial above is actually better than getting a new PC since most come loaded with strangling bloatware.

I'll try all of these once the winter break begins. I can't risk anything at the moment, since I have so much requirements to finish on this laptop.

Will check back in about a few days, and thank you very much for all the responses thus far.
