    program file shortcut

So, I am trying this with windows 8 but i feel that it would be the same for both 7 or 8.
I was wondering if you could install windows and then move your program files from the C: drive and on to another hard drive but create shortcuts of both the files and places the shortcuts in the C: drive?. my reasoning for this is that I have a SSD (solid state drive) and I had installed an operating system on it. Well it was very fast except for the fact that it was only 120 GB. so I quickly ran out of space, And i was curious If I could just not store my programs on that drive?. Thanks for the help!

    Hello Otis,

If the program doesn't offer you to select where you want to install it during it's installation, then it would be best to leave them alone. It usually doesn't work out well when trying to move the Program Files folder.

If you like, you could do this below to save some space by moving files in your user folders (ex: My Music, My Documents, etc....) to a folder where you like to access from your libraries with the files actually located where you like instead.
In addition, you might see if this tutorial below may be able to help save you some more space.

    Hope this helps, :)
