Well, since I don't like to spend money on something that won't give me a real performance bump, I will stay with the 2500k on this PC. If I decide to build something new in the future, then I can add all the new bells and whistles.

To be honest, it is hard enough deciding on platforms/parts for our own personal builds, almost impossible to decide for anybody else. I was torn between 1155 and 2011 when I was doing my homework for a new build, and now we have Haswell coming out soon-ish and we still have Ivy Bridge-Extreme to add to the mix. I enjoy the choices for sure, but sometimes it complicates things. You really have to take a step back and map out a few things these days such as what you need a computer to do now vs what you might be getting into a year from now. A couple of years ago, I had never so much as encoded anything in my life and just used a computer for light gaming, web surfing, email and Office. Now I do some video encoding, gaming and streaming media from this computer to other devices in my house! All of that said, now I am formulating a plan for a small home server because my needs have changed and I can see the benefits of such a system.

It is good to have such a helpful community such as Seven Forums to bounce ideas around in order to make an informed decision though, I'm sure it has saved many people time and money!

I totally agree, Seven Forums is an awesome place to get ideas from. My current PC is only 2 years old, so I am in no hurry to replace it. My needs are much simpler than yours, but I still enjoy having a computer that performs well. I have an SSD in this PC and it is the single most performance booster that I have ever gotten from a new piece of hardware.
