mouse cursor wants to move rightwards?

I seem to have a cursor problem that I just can't knock, my mouse movement just doesn't glide like it should. At first I thought I had dust under the laser light of my mouse that was causing the issue (cleaning it can help), but even still I notice a shocking difference in the way my cursor behaves when put into safe mode. It's seriously like night and day.

In regular Windows it behaves very erratically, it always wants to move somewhere to the right, even when sitting idle. When browsing, I often have to pick the mouse up and return it to its normal position because the cursor has moved so far to the right. However when I put Windows into safe mode, my mouse movement is smooth and normal as ever.

My mouse is a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000. I've scanned my system in safe mode with Malwarebytes, and nothing bad has came up. I'm not very familiar with drivers or how they work, so.. I may need guidance if that is the case. I've done several re-installs to Windows just to get rid of this exact problem, but the problem always seems to return.

See if using another USB outlet helps.

For what it's worth, I have two Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 "signature" edition and neither one plays nicely with my Windows 7

I recently reinstalled my system because it bugged me so much, however I am still noticing the same problems. I tried installing the wireless USB piece into different USB ports and am still having the same problems--it's still very unprecise. I know it's not a virus or anything, it's gotta be something else.

where do I find that info? I've opened the app for the mouse (the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center) but I'm not finding any information, just settings. I've done the same through the Control Panel, not sure where to look.

Ok Go ahead and install both the Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.0 and IntelliPoint 8.2 from here ... I hope this is the one you are using

and then let me know... You might need to do some setting changes.. but first just install and let me know

yes that is my mouse! :) I think I already have the latest version of Mouse and Keyboard Center (Windows Update downloaded 2.0 for me), but what exactly does Intellipoint do? I have never used Intellipoint before. I am also stuck between buying a new mouse or sticking with this one.. it's a couple years old now, and I wonder if buying something different may fix my problems altogether. I just don't understand what an update could do to fix this terrible movement I've been experiencing, it seems quite unfixable. As I stated before, Safe Mode doesn't need the update to move like its supposed to.. it runs so ridiculously smooth.

I may give the Intellipoint download a shot, but I'd like to hear your opinion on things first.. if that's okay

Well there is your answer.. if it runs smoothly in safe mode ... then its not a hardware problem...

Intellipoint is the software that is used to define functions for your mouse and keyboard keys..

You could change the sensitivity and precision setting ... this is known to help...

However since you said it works fine in safe mode.. i have an idea.... why don't you uninstall the Mouse and keyboard centre..and intellipoint if its installed (check them under Control Panel > Programs and features...

One thing to note ... some of your keyboard functions like play button or open email button...etc will not work when you remove it.. But let give it a try and see what happens..
