Please help me understand my system

I am not sure where to post, my problem is poor performance making laptop useless. I got this Vaio July 2012, from the start I have had problems with performance. Anything more than 1 tab in Chrome or IE and Office doc open slows everything down to near freeze...I say near because if I wait long enough it will complete all tasks but it may take a half hour to open the folder in my documents. And forget listening to music unless I shut down everything expect Trend AV. But no one can fix it! It has been reformatted about 12 times (one of which done by Best Buy's GeekSquad and they ran tests on all the hardware also); and Sony has sent tech to my house to replace the hard drive and network card (little side note: I didn't suggest either, they did! I have been very impressed by their efforts to fix). Looking at the Reliability there is obviously a problem...how can I find it?

. If its still running really slow after countless re-installations and a new hdd. I think the issue may be with the SATA controller on the motherboard.

Have you tried updating the Bios? there could well be a new SATA controller available.

If not, Perhaps a new motherboard is needed. Id give Sony another call. If its under warrenty

Can you post full specs of the laptop? It would help people point where the bottleneck might be, or, if after running tests, it's just a case of a faulty mobo/laptop.

In addition work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 especially establishing a Clean Boot right away, checking the logs for repeat errors, utlizing the System Resources, Generate a System Health Report, test your hardware.

Sorry for taking so long, BSOD started :p

Well, sending it to Sony's repair depot. Re-installed Win7 shortly after posting and been a mess since. This time same previous issues but now BSOD on top. According to Who Crashed cause was Kernal driver ntoskrnl.exe first time; then Atheros Wifi Driver athrx.sys and then Trend Micro tmtdi.sys replaced it.

System is Vaio SVE14118FXW Windows 7 x64 Home SP1 B7601 with 700GB Toshiba HD; 8G RAM; Intel i5-240M; BIOS Insyde
    Corp R0170E5 SMBIOS 2.7; Intel USB3.0; Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless and Bluetooth; Realtek PCIe GBE Ethernet;
Intel(R) HDGraphics 3000; Realtek HD Audio.

It was purchased July 16 from BestBuy, and all drivers current (there is an update available for Intel, I have tried it with no noticible change either way). As for troubleshooting, I have ran SeaTools; Memtest; AV\Malware\etc out the wazoo, I have ran all the Troubleshooting tools I could find in Windows 7; the usuals suspects of course, sfc; chckdisk; and all. I have been using sysinternals suite and other utilities like them. I tried to use the MS degging tools but got fed up trying to install, and found Dbgview to work good enough by then.

But now that it is finally getting bsod, obviously it has issues that are not just in my head! It is still under warrenty so I just have to cope with a loaner tablet while they try to fix. I was begining to think I was crazy since nothing was being found, now I am thinking motherboard maybe... Hopefully I won't be forced to switch and end up in Win8 (as well as having a really cool $25 sticker of books on the cover that I don't wanna loose!)!

The repeat offender events I hope don't return:

WLAN-Autoconfig EID 10002 WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.

Module Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Qualcomm Atheros WiFi Driver Installation\AthIhvWlanExt.dll

    and

Dhcp-Client EID 1001 Address Configuration State Event

Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x642737B4864D. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

    and, most worrisome of all...

    User Profile Service EID 1530
Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

    DETAIL -
3 user registry handles leaked from \Registry\User\S-1-5-21-2241671868-864894803-829607151-1001:

(this has had up to 40+ "handles leaked" listed in them at imes, one tech said it was normal and nothing to worry about...but I kind of panic at any sight of the word registry)
I ran the SevenForums Diagnostic and attached it to this post if anyone is interested, regardless of repair result I would love to understand all this better.
