Asus eee PC 1015PEM - running very slow

    Hello.

I had bought Asus eee pc 1015PEM 2 years ago which is running on windows 7 32 bit os with 1 gb ram + Intel atom dual core processor..

Now performance of netbook is pathetically very slow; even with super performance selection. I am using avast free anti virus + ccleaner + degramentation + malwarebyte. Still performance of computer goes down significantly.

I have not find any error or problem. I am planning to reinstall operating system as final solution.

Is it a good idea ? ( this what I used to with my windows XP laptop).

Please help me what should I do ? I do not have any software CD or driver CD as it was not provided by Asus.

    Thanks

    cooldj,

Right-click your Task Bar, open "Task Manager," and check your CPU usage. If your system is near 100% CPU usage (which I am guessing it is) you probably have a virus hidden somewhere.

    Problem solved for Now

    Hi,

My ASUS Eee PC has also been very slow since starting it up a couple of years ago. I had some respite last year after uninstalling a load of unnecessary software, unfortunately I cannot remember exactly what I did back then. However, the netbook has been running very slow again for a few months now, and I broke and thought I'd have another look at what unwanted programs were running. I have just uninstalled Windows Live and everythings is running better (for now!). This is not a great solution if you use Windows Live!

Go to 'Control Panel' through the Start menu, then 'Uninstall a Program' and select 'Windows Live'. You get options to uninstall various different parts of the program, I selected all of them as I don't use them.
