Hi Marsmimar, Layback Bear and pbcopter,
I am going to run offline Defender, but I am going to back up my designs on DVDs as well, so it will take me a few days. In my case I have to press F12.
As far as the Com Surrogate error goes, I followed above and put Dllhost.exe as an exception into DEP. I could only do it for the System 32. When I tried to do it for SysWow64, I got message that it cannot be done for the 64 bit version. My computer is definitely a 64 bit one, although I have programs under a 32 bit sequence as well. Windows does not give a choice, in which sequence to install them, although everything I have, seems to be at least 64 bit compatible. Thanks everybody. Sewcat7

Run an online virus scanner like Trend Micro's Housecall.

    Dllhost.exe

Hi sbrads, I am grateful for anybody, who has helpful suggestions, but I have tried virus scanners and meanwhile I think that it has something to do with permissions. Helga
