| Windows 7: Windows 7 Optimization?? |

Windows 7 Optimization?? My son, is an Apple guy! All his devices are Apple. Even though they are more expensive, Apple does have it going on, especially with their OS on the computer/laptop/tablet portion of their industry.
I've also had many techs tell me that Windows 7 is Microsoft's best product yet, and as close to Apple's product thus far. (I have no experience with W8 but do understand it was designed more to work with the touch system)
I said all of that to ask this, how does Windows 7 do internally with optimization? I know the consensus on defrag is pretty much that the internal program is all you need, allowing it to run once a week/month etc.
What about the rest of the optimization in Windows 7?
Thanks for patience and understanding!

Rest of optimization? Nothing. I do absolutely nothing but leave Windows 7 to its own devices and never have I had a performance issue. Well until I made one by messing with things. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Alienware Aurora ALX R4 OS Windows 7 x64 (SP1) CPU Intel Core i7-3930K (3.2GHz, Turbo 4GHz) Motherboard Alienware Aurora-R4 x79 Memory 4x Samsung 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 (16GB 1600MHz) Graphics Card Nvidia Geforce GTX 690 (Stock) Sound Card RealTek Integrated Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp U3011 Screen Resolution 2560x1600 PSU 875W Some Dell PSU <.< Hard Drives Samsung P830 256 GB, WD Raptor 150GB, 2x 1TB HDDs Other Info Dell Inspiron Mini 10v (Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz; 1GB; Windows 7 Ultimate) |

I have had Windows 7 since July 5th (I started with the Release Candidate), and I've never had to worry about anything like this. It truly is Microsoft's best operating system. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number I built it. I "personalize" my 7 but as far as "optimize" goes........... 7 is just fine as it is out of the box. Been using it since the R.C. issue also and the only BSOD I've ever had (one) was my fault. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus G74Sx OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU Intel i7 2670 Qm @2.20 Motherboard AsusTek G74Sx,1.0 Memory 16 GB DDR3 Graphics Card Nvidia Geforce GTX 560M -2040mb Monitor(s) Displays Generic Screen Resolution 1600 x 900 Hard Drives Crucial M4 128 gb SSD Internal/ 500gb Western Digital internal @ 7200 rpm (love the dual internal drives!)

Yeah, it's been so perfect and consistent for me (no gradual slow-down) that it's almost boring. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number I built it. Any real optimizations are at the device level (disk, graphics card, etc.).
