    Startup items

I have a Toshiba Satellite A665 that my dad gave me. I moved everything to a flash drive that he wanted & used Toshiba Recovery to take it back to Factory Settings.

I am now going through MSConfig to remove some items from Startup (not the computer though) that I don't believe I need. In the pic, I'm going to remove Message Center, Reeltime & Web Camera Application because I can open them manually if I want.

Online Backup will probably go as well since I don't plan on using it, but what is App Place? Any suggestions on what I really need to keep running & what else should go? I've only had the laptop for a short time & still trying to learn what all these applications are (igfxtray? hkcmd? igfxpers? ...).

Also, when I've removed entries from Startup on other computers, I usually removed them from the registry directly & haven't had any problems. Although, would it work just as well/better if I went through Services.msc, stopped the service & set the Startup Type to Disabled?

    Hello CJW,

I wouldn't recommend disabling services for startup items since they could affect other items. It would be safer to uninstall the programs if you don't want them instead.
