Slow & constantly freezing after reinstalling pc AVG screwed me over

    Hi Guys,

i usually come here for answers, but this time round, i couldnt find any answers to my problem...

    my problem goes like this...

after i updated avg2013, my computer KO'd, i couldnt boot into safe mode or tried startup repair, so my only way out is to do a clean boot of the system.
here comes another problem, clean boot means everything should be fine? no, usually when i start up my comp, it takes about 18secs to boot into the desktop, but this time around, it takes 8mins & all the while stuck in the windows logo boot seq..

I recommend removing AVG using their on line AVG removal tool. For another anti virus their many choices. I chose MSE.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

    Welcome to Seven forums.
A clean boot only has no startup items running when Windows starts.
Try this tool to completely remove AVG. AVG | Download tools and utilities for your version. Don't use AVG, it constantly causes problems.

Maybe the problem was created by using MSE and AVG at the same time in the first instance and has played around with the file system??

So this might be worth try mate https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

did you even try the AVG removal tool? It will eave a lot of crap behind, also try the sfc /scannow suggested above.

I'm I understanding you correctly. After a reformat MSE is the only anti virus you have ever installed? You didn't tell us you reformatted until post #6. We need to know what you have done and when. We also need to know the results and the order things were done.
Example: If you have done a format and clean install you most likely don't need to do sfc and a clean boot.

When you did a format and clean install did you get all Windows Updates including SP-1?
Have you installed any Tuneup or registry programs on the system after the format and clean install?

ok, my bad i wasnt clear enough...

3 days ago, avg 2012 was auto updated to 2013, system then slow down to a crawl at 1st, internet then went down, & then i went to this forum (via ipad) & realized its avg's fault, so i tried booting into safemode to remove avg, but cant boot in. also tried to use avg remover to remove also cannot. tried startup repair, also cannot, also tried avg boot cd to remove the files, but it boot loops. so i gave up for the night.
last evening i reformatted the pc & install a clean boot, but i still find the system slow alot down + constant freezing.. then i disabled pagefile & hibernation in hopes to speed up the performance, but still no use, i again ran startup repair, & restarted the comp again.
still laggy as hell, i have yet to try src /scannow... which i will be doing tonight...

is there a way to test the ram is alright? my ram is 16gig
i have already lost my 3dsmax files placed on my desktop for rendering... bloody hell avg... thanks man, i lost 5 weeks worth of work
