Sfc can't fix files

Having some problems, not sure if this is the right place to post.

On boot up I was getting "unable to locate C\windows\system32\configsystemprofile\desktop" after "preparing your desktop"
in my user account that has been active for months

I ran sfc 4 or 5 times with restarts after each scan and I still have files that sfc can't fix.
From what I have read "this is not good"
System seems to be working fine now so far
What are my options here?
I have no installation disc but I do have a recovery partition

Thanks

It depends on what files.

Most of the time, SFC finds files pertaining to fonts, speech, and Group Policy with mismatched hashes.

SFC always has a problem trying to fix these. For virtually everyone, this is not a problem. They do not affect day-to-day operation.

For those of you that have to have it perfect, the solution for repair is a nightmare of length, complication, and tediousness.

No crashes; boots okay; no freezes - my advice -let it be, like the Beatles song.

Rather than SFC, a CHKDSK run would better fix your problem.
Right-click your "C" drive - Properties - Tools - Error Checking. Check off both boxes (the surface check is a good idea to do every six months or so); Apply or OK out to reboot and have the pass done during bootup. If the h/d or ssd is large, this will take a while. Make a phone call to a loved one.

Ran chkdsk before the sfc scans but it stopped right away.Checked the log in event viewer and it had deleted corrupt attribute records and a few other things.
Is it ok to post the log here? not sure what I'm looking at

Again, if your day-to-day computer activities are not compromised, don't worry.
