Windows 7: Toshiba Satellite L755D-S5106 stops at Windows starting bootscreen

Plug in your ethernet cable to see if a driver loads to show your networks in the bottom right System tray. Check also in Device Manager. If so then run all Important and Optional Windows Updates to see what drivers are delivered including likely the wireless driver.

If not import the wireless driver from the Toshiba Support Downloads webpage for your model.

All of these steps are detailed in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which shows how to get a perfect install.

Hum Greg I cannot find any reference to this model on the Toshiba page the nearest is a L770 and when and if you find the right model it will also ask for a PART NO on a sticker on the back of the machine that need to be quoted, see pics

Having said that I am of course looking at the Australian support page where Genni is might be different listings but it would be unusual I am thinking.

Yeah John it is on the US Support site here: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...ily=1073768663

I learn this by googling the make and model number which usually brings up the model page for the maker's correct regional website. You can then click the Support tab to search for Downloads.

If you put in Win7 64 bit it has several Wireless drivers so I would look in Device Manager to see if it gives the name of the wireless device, and if not trace it using Hardware Identification. You can also try installing each of them to see which works.

Thanks Greg I could not get the US site to come up for some reason. The only reason I go looking is because instead of using the Toshiba downloads I like to dig out the manufacturers of the devices if they are not Toshiba made from the Toshiba refs. Simply because from experience with the info got that way find that the drivers are better for some reason if you get my drift.
Say for example there was a Realtek sound device in the machine I go to Realtek rather than the Toshiba download ref.

Well, I said that I had to reinstall windows and after that I installed some windows update. I installed the wireless driver and it got stuck at boot time, so I had restored it. That worked well but then I thought I will leave it and install the windows update bit by bit. The first one gave already trouble. I can remember exactly which update but that too mae the machine not booting. So I restored but still wont boot. I did a clean install again, but this time it wont even boot after restart. I fixed the boot, wont restart, start up repair, wont boot.

Got frustrated and it has been 2 weeks that I was busy with the machine, so I am a little tired of it. I gave it back away to my friend. I told him that I wanted to rest.

Oh before I forget, I downloaded the drivers from that website you put here, Greg.
And when I had installed Widows, the only drivers that weren´t installed by windows were the networking drivers, LAN and the Wireless and the SM Bus controller.

Maybe I did something wrong and thats why it cant be fixed. I will checked it again and do other clean install. When the time comes I will post here the findings.

I wanted to say thank you for your time and patience for my matter. It isn´t done yet but I really appreciate the help of you guys. Thank you and till I check it again.

The drivers you mentioned that were missing are found in the chipset, which is also on the drivers downloads page I linked for you.

Without them the PC may be unstable causing the problems you're experiencing so I'd install the wireless and chipset drivers first before even connecting to the internet to do all Important and Optional Windows Updates.

If Updates cause Win7 to become unbootable, System Restore to a point before they were installed using the Win7 DVD System Recovery Options. Then install the Updates in smaller batches starting with the drivers to isolate any Update that is causing the problem

I would also test the hardware before proceeding to see if RAM or HD might be failing:
RAM - Test with Memtest86+ for 5-6 passes.
HD Diagnostic extended CD scan.
Disk Check from DVD Command Line if necessary.

I am trying to find the SM BUS CONTROL. I want to install that first and then the network drivers.

As I detailed in depth above you need the Chipset and Wireless LAN drivers from the link I provided.

I gave you everything you need to know to get both installed. If you're not sure or need more specfic help then after reading the steps I gave you, please ask back specifically.
