    This is all you need to know basically. Windows 7 won't defrag an SSD unless YOU force it to. Even then, it won't brick it....it just isn't needed.

    I think by default Windows 7 turns on defragging on HDD's and schedules it to run every Wednesday. If it detects a SSD, it won't run it. Or that's the experience I've had with several different machines.

    Well I didn't know that KB as I have always gone by this Disk Defragmenter - Open and Use

    so again I stand corrected.

Bit late joining the SSD club but I finally have one, 120GB, teamed up with a fast 1TB HDD, 8GB RAM and an i5. Win 7 performance is impressive, but thinking about the longer term is there much to be gained by moving the browser caches and Win temp files off of the SSD? Perhaps the paging file too...
