I am not allowed to run CHKDSK from DOS box - Win 7 HP 64 bit.

    Gentlemen:

I refer to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I open the "prompt" to enter the DOS Box.

I key "CHKDSK C:" and tap return.

A message appears that says that I do not have high enough privileges or rank
to run "CHKDSK" from the DOS prompt.

    Any suggestions anyone?

Thank you for your help in advance.

This fixed my computer when I had problems:

Go to Explorer, right click your C drive, click properties, tools, click check now, click start, click schedule……

When you restart your computer the chkdsk will run and, hopefully, fix your problem (s).
