    Windows Search Bar

    I have tried everything to get my search bar in the start menu working, but nothing has worked.
    When I try to search using the search bar no files or anything comes up.
    However I have tried making the search bar work with a new account and it works perfectly.
    Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Hi ellellell1

    Try the link below

    Index - Rebuild

    If that doesn't help you might have a corrupted profile .

    see if this will work for you

    End Task on EXPLORER.EXE from Task Manager.

    Start the Registry Editor from the task manager by clicking on File New Task (Run...) type in regedit.exe

    Look for the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\{EF87B4CB-F2CE-4785-8658-4CA6C63E38C6}\TopViews\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

    Rename the key so it looks like the following:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\{EF87B4CB-F2CE-4785-8658-4CA6C63E38C6}\TopViews\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}.BACKUP

    From Task Manager click on File | New Task (Run) and type EXPLORER.EXE and hit return.

    Now try your search from the Start Menu again.

    I have found
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\{0B2BAAEB-0042-4DCA-AA4D-3EE8648D03E5}\TopViews\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

    But can't find
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\{EF87B4CB-F2CE-4785-8658-4CA6C63E38C6}\TopViews\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

    Does this matter if I have a different name for the folder mentioned above?

    Found it, renamed it to {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}.BACKUP
    Still no difference

    Thanks for all the help you are giving me, I hope we can get it to work.

    I also found out that if I type C: in the search bar, it comes up with some folder results. Wonder if this helps?

    The {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} folder or the {EF87B4CB-F2CE-4785-8658-4CA6C63E38C6} folder?

    Delete this key {ef87b4cb-f2ce-4785-8658-4ca6c63e38c6}

    Restart computer after deleting.

    You could also try this

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\{ef87b4cb-f2ce-4785-8658-4ca6c63e38c6}

    In the left side of the window right-click GroupBy and click Modify

    Change the value to System.StartMenu.Group and click OK, then close the registry editor

    ADDED:

    If that doesn't work Turn off Search features inside control panel "turn Windows Features On or Off " Restart PC. Turn the Windows Search feature back on then rebuild index.
