    Jumping through hoops here

I'm having a lot of trouble all of a sudden and this is the latest bugbear! Acrobat (pro10) stopped working and I attempted a repair from the entry in the help menu but got a message saying this:
Error 1328. Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PT43D0.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor.
I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who will understand this but not only do I not - I also have no idea who my patch supplier is. Any advice grovelingly accepted.

Reinstall Acrobat 10 Pro. That should fix it. Did this program come with your computer, or did you buy it? If you bought it, you should be able to reinstall it.

It was put on my computer along with most other apps by my technician so a re-install is not possible. That would have been my first action had it been possible. There seems to be something messing with my computer and I am suspicious about updates although the only one that happens daily is the Kis13 database I think.

Try system restoring to a time before this happened.
How to do a System Restore: System Restore
If this doesn't work, have your technician Adobe Acrobat.

Believe it or not I only just got Restore working this morning.
As it happens I have found the fault: it was to do with my twain software because I was trying to create a pdf from my scanner. I tried launching it in Photoshop and it didn't work so I have re-installed the twain software and I am back up and running. Thank you for your very sound advice, it is much appreciated. Keith.
